Bass! How low can you go?

Bass! How low can you go?

Adel Khan · April 5th 2018

We love a bassline at SAMcraft, whether we’re listening to Ram Jam Rodigan on the radio, playing old 45’s on the company record player or just in the office writing reports – everything revolves around a great bassline. As much as we’d like to get into a conversation about the great basslines, this blog post is about the other side of basslines – the software health check side of ‘baselines’.

There’s a lot to be said for a baseline, it gives you a quick snapshot of where you are with a particular vendor and can inform decisions as to whether or not you might have serious compliance issues. These pre ELP health check baselines can potentially save you a lot of money and help you take the first steps towards the right SAM solution for your business. You don’t need to be bullied into buying the latest greatest SAM software, that won’t solve anything. The first step out of the confusion is to complete a baseline on a key vendor or a product set.

Baselines can tell you:

  1. What the problem areas might be with a given vendor.
  2. Whether or not you have fundamental flaws with how you license your estate.
  3. If your software policies and processes are effective.
  4. What type of SAM solution might suit your business.

A baseline is also a great exercise for smaller organisations who might not need a fully blown SAM function but are still at risk of audits and fines.
