You can’t get your data and the vendor knows that you can’t…the vendor also knows you know they know you can’t get your data…so you stare across the table at each other…It’s like a scene from a spaghetti western…the camera cuts between the eyes of the dueling rivals…It’s high noon between vendor and customer…you both have your fingers on the triggers of your guns…but who is going to blink first…who is going to call who’s bluff…sweat trickles down your cheek…and to paraphrase Christopher Wallace “`Your heartbeat sound like Sasquatch feet”…you know it…the vendor knows it…you’re just going to renew your contract for another 3 years…you’ll pay the same…unless this vendor persuades you that your user license count has increased by another 10%…either way this is a duel that you cannot win…as you sit with your head in your hands…the vendor counts their money…and the end credits roll.

Word around the campfire is that the vendor is coming back to town…but rather than sit and wait for the vendor, the customer plucked up the courage to email nofear@samcraft.co.uk and they met with a new type of consultant…a consultant who didn’t talk them through the latest industry ‘think piece’ or their old MBA coursework…they actually sat down with the customer, listened to them and walked them through exactly how they could get to their data…soon the customer and the consultant began working together…and together they went looking for data…only this time the customer was given a map that detailed exactly where the data was and precisely how to get to it…this was no easy journey but the reward easily outweighed the effort…the vendor came to town…and the vendor strode into the customer’s office like they owned it…twirling their Mont Blanc pen like a lasso…but this time the customer sat the vendor down and presented them with a fistful of data…a fistful of data that ended up saving the customer a fistful of dollars…the sunset as the vendor left town defeated, deflated and disarmed…the customer thanked the consultant as the end credits roll.
