A SaaD fact widely known…

Today we want to talk about SaaD or ‘Software as a Dependency’ . To fully understand SaaD, you must first start to think about when exactly did software change from being something that enabled your business into something that your business has an unhealthy dependence on? Where did it start? Was it the vendors using drug dealer tactics to get students hooked on certain products by offering them free, or heavily discounted, products? The vendors knowing full well the moment those students entered the workplace the software would then be full price? Was it the promise of greater productivity or the dream of one application to rule them all? Whatever it is one things for certain your business is probably suffering from the effects of Software as a Dependency.

Is there a cure for SaaD? Maybe there is…the best place to start is to think about the checklist below and take the appropriate action, ask yourself:

  • How much of your software are you renewing, not knowing what it actually does?
  • Are you reading a list of vendor names or applications that you don’t recognise?
  • Do you wonder who in your business is actually responsible for managing these applications?
  • Are these applications actually delivering any value?
  • How many of these applications do exactly the same thing?
  • Does each department have a preference for a different application?
  • Does this departmental preference mean you have 4 or 5 different applications when you could just have 1?

These are all important questions, important questions that SAMcraft could help you answer, if you’re interested in overcoming SaaD then email nofear@samcraft.co.uk We’re ready to join you in taking a stand against SaaD.
