‘SAM’ Same as it ever was…

‘SAM’ Same as it ever was…

How do you renew your software contracts?
What’s the process you use for a renewal?

The reason we ask is that it seems more and more companies are still buying software based on a number, not a requirement or with any SAM in mind. It really is the same as it ever was, just make the number smaller and you’ll renew the existing agreement.

It really is puzzling that buyers keep getting caught in the trap of playing the ‘you say hi we say low’ game when it comes to renewing their enterprise agreements. On the surface I can understand the sense of satisfaction in the pantomime of battling with a vendor who says, “it’s going to be £5 million a year for the next 5 years” and eventually you settle on £4.7 million a year for the next 5 years. You can go and tell everyone else that you’ve saved the company £1.5 million.

But what if you took the time to actually understand the products you were using? and what you were being sold? What if SAMcraft were to tell you that we’ve worked with customers who have seen a £25 million 5-year agreement reduce down to a figure closer to £15 million?

Would finding out more about that be a conversation you’d be interested in having? Would you like to utilise the skills of independent license specialists who were so confident they could reduce your key vendor expenditure that they would work on a gainshare model?

If you’d be interested in talking to SAMcraft and finding out more about how we’ve helped customers realise permanent reductions in their software expenditure then email nofear@samcraft.co.uk all you have to do is get in touch.
